EVENT DESCRIPTION

Oracle 2023 offers Illuman national and chapter leaders the opportunity to meet in person to strengthen our personal relationships and  collective vision.  Our emphasis this year will be on training and equipping one another in various ways for our shared work with Illuman (details to follow on the specific training/equipping opportunities to be offered during the weekend).  We will celebrate our brotherhood and go forth reinvigorated and freshly equipped for the shared work of supporting men on their spiritual journey. 

Space is very limited, so register soon if you are interested in attending. Also, please note that, unlike past years, there are no private rooms available. Instead we will be sleeping in bunk rooms with up to seven men per room. (Cabins are modernized with shared bathrooms.)

WHEN: 5pm Thursday, April 13 to 1pm, Sunday, April 16th, 2023

WHERE: John Knox Ranch, 1661 John Knox Road, Fischer, TX 78623 (map) - 1 hour south of the Austin airport, 1 hour 15 minutes north of the San Antonio airport

WHAT'S INCLUDED: Shared bunk rooms (with 7 men/room) + all meals from dinner Thursday through Sunday lunch

COST: Donations to cover room and board ($200/person) are encouraged but not required. You must cover your own travel expenses. Limited travel scholarships available by request. See below for more details.

NOTE TO CHAPTER LEADERS: We ask each chapter to send only one representative to start with. If there are more spots available after the initial round of invitees have had opportunity to register, we will open it up to additional chapter leaders at that point.

COVID PRECAUTIONS: Illuman's national COVID policy currently requires that all Oracle attendees certify that they are full vaccinated or have natural immunity from prior COVID infection. This policy is currently in review and it is possible that it may change in the next month or two. If so, we will update this page. 

We also request that you test for COVID the day of your departure. If you test positive, please do not attend. 

A WORD ABOUT DONATIONS

Oracle is offered as an expression of gratitude for the time and energy you have already so generously given to further the work and mission of Illuman. As such, there is no requirement that any man pay in order to attend. So that finances are not a barrier to anyone, we also offer a limited number of travel-reimbursement scholarships upon request. (Up to $500. Email Mike Clawson at [email protected].)

At the same time, we know that each of you are passionate about furthering the work of Illuman and making it accessible to an even wider diversity of men. The per person cost to Illuman is $200, representing a significant portion of Illuman's annual budget, which is already running a projected deficit. If you have the financial resources to do so, we invite you to help us off-set these expenses by donating back to Illuman the cost of your meals and lodging.

Note to Chapter Leaders: If at all possible, we ask that Illuman chapters cover the travel costs AND food/lodging expenses for the men they send to represent them. Please approach this with your chapter Board/Elders before registering. 

TRAVEL INFORMATION

You will need to arrange your own transportation to Central Texas. The Austin airport is 1 hour from John Knox Ranch and the San Antonio airport is 1 hour and 15 minutes away. Illuman's Administrator, Mike Clawson, will help arrange rental car sharing/carpooling for men to and from both airports, though you will be responsible for making the final rental arrangements together with the men in your carpool group. In order to expedite car rental plans, please register and arrange your flights as soon as possible so that we can match you with other men arriving and departing around the same time. Average rental prices are around $300-400 for the three days and we will do our best to arrange carpooling with 3-4 men per car.
